PTA Presidents' Message
Spring is around the corner and the PTA is still working hard to serve you! We had our second General Meeting on February 18 and approved an amended budget (reflecting the actual income and expenditures for the year to date). Also at that meeting, we elected our Nominating Committee for the 2010-2011 school year. Please join me in showing appreciation to Jeannine Brock, Carey DeLucca, Kim Dillehay, Stacy Gibbs, Michelle Tisdale and Jenni West for serving in this all important role. This group will be looking to find those willing to serve on the 2010-2011 PTA executive board. If you are willing and able to serve Mountain View in this capacity, please contact one of the committee members (or the current executive committee). The slate of nominations will be presented for election at the third and last General Meeting on April 29, 2010 (such slate must be posted for at least 10 days prior to such meeting). Also, as we mentioned last month, please be thinking about which committee you might be able to chair, co-chair or serve on next year! There are many fun and rewarding opportunities in which to participate through the PTA!
We want to take this opportunity to say special thanks to some of those committees and chairs who have been working hard. Mary Tallman, Laura Shutt, Tricia Dietz, and Nancy Melhorn, the chairs of the Teacher/Staff Appreciation committee, coordinated snacks for the teachers during conference week and organized and undertook many special treats for the teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week (including a "Souper" soup day, during which the teachers and staff were served soups made by many members of that committee). Also, Jen-i DeBetta once again coordinated the Heroes essay contest during February. Finally, we thank Jennifer Levitt and the Arts in Education committee and Lisa Kubes and the Health and Safety Committee for the fabulous Arts Night Out/Family Fit Night. Thank you to all who supported these efforts by volunteering and participating!
We are so grateful for all the support the PTA gets from our wonderful families at Mountain View. We want to encourage you to show that same great support to the Mountain View Foundation as they kick off the Learn-A-Thon fundraiser. Remember that our computer lab teacher is funded 100% by the Foundation -- please help them reach their goal to continue this full-time position!
As always, we are always available for questions and comments! We are happy to hear from you.
